At Youth-Reach Gulf Coast (YRGC), we have always been committed to making a difference in the lives of our residents and the surrounding community here in Summerdale, Alabama. However, our mission extends far beyond our local reach, touching lives around the world. Through financial partnerships and hands-on missions, YRGC exemplifies the power of faith and service on a global scale.
Serving with Freedom Church in Peru
One of the significant ways that we extend our impact is through collaboration with Freedom Church in Pensacola, Florida. Both staff members and residents have volunteered alongside the Freedom Church community to spread the message of Christ’s love locally and internationally
In October 2024, a group from YRGC traveled with Freedom Church to Peru on a mission trip. The team was involved in much-needed construction work, helping to build infrastructure in the town they visited. However, their work didn’t stop there. They also had the opportunity to share the message of Christ, building relationships with locals and offering support that went beyond the physical. This trip not only allowed the team to serve but also gave them an eye-opening experience of how their faith can reach beyond their own community.
Expanding in Costa Rica
YRGC Director David Williams, alongside Youth-Reach Founder and Executive Director Curt Williams, recently visited Youth-Reach Costa Rica, working to expand the ministry’s outreach. The duo is focused on developing a strategy that will engage the youth in Costa Rica, sharing the message of Christ and offering support to young men in need.
Costa Rica, with its vibrant culture and growing need for mentorship, is an ideal location for this initiative. Our vision is to see Youth-Reach build lasting relationships in Costa Rica, providing much-needed resources and discipleship to young people in the area. This ongoing project highlights the ministry’s dedication to global outreach and the importance of youth development worldwide.
Supporting Clean Water Initiatives in Cambodia
YRGC is also involved in supporting organizations that meet the basic needs of people across the globe. One such partnership is with Rock Foundation Cambodia, a nonprofit ministry dedicated to drilling clean water wells in rural areas that need them most in the name of Jesus. Access to clean water and the gospel are fundamental human rights, and YRGC is proud to be part of this life-changing effort.
In addition to supporting Rock Foundation Cambodia financially and through advocacy, the ministry has participated in mission trips to Cambodia. These trips have allowed staff members to experience firsthand the impact of clean water initiatives and assist in the work being done on the ground.
The Ripple Effect of Global Ministry
Our international involvement is a testament to the core values of YRGC: service, outreach and faith in action. Volunteering with churches and nonprofits not only spreads the gospel but also shapes the hearts and minds of the young men in their care. The lessons learned through these experiences foster a deep sense of empathy, compassion and a broader worldview. As the ministry continues to grow and expand its outreach, the ripple effect of its work will undoubtedly inspire others to live out their faith with a global perspective.
A Beacon of Hope
Youth-Reach Gulf Coast is more than just a residential ministry for young men; it is a beacon of hope that reaches across the globe. Whether it’s building relationships in Peru, helping youth in Costa Rica, or supporting clean water initiatives in Cambodia, we are committed to the transformative power of faith-driven service. Through these international missions, our ministry continues to fulfill its call to raise up young men who will go on to change the world, one act of service at a time.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
